Understanding Underserved Black Detroiters: Vaccines, Test and Getting by in the COVID19 Pandemic

Black Americans are more likely to be infected, be hospitalized, and die from Covid-19 compared to White Americans. They are also less likely to get a Covid-19 vaccination compared to their White counterparts. One study found that 68% of Black Americans would not get a Covid-19 vaccine, compared with 48% of White Americans. In a city that is 79% Black, 61% of Detroit residents said they are unlikely to take the Covid-19 vaccine. There is a clear need for research interventions to decrease vaccine hesitancy among the Black community in Detroit.
